Almost unstoppable in the early years of the war with their famous Blitzkrieg tactic. Starting with the invasion of Poland in 1939 and continuing with the invasion of France and the Low Countries in 1940 to the invasion of Russia in 1941.
Their advance was gradually slowed and stopped by increasing resistance on all fronts by the Allies.
